Our Entertainment Team carefully crafts fun, interactive activities for kids and adults to enjoy.

Join us at the Main Pool Area during peak seasons for great fun and laughter under the bright blue skies at Mabalingwe!

Our Entertainment Team is always looking for great ideas and things to keep your family happy and to provide them with the best possible vacation memories.

Send the kids to meet and make friends during boeresport challenges, mini-golf competitions, wild face painting and so much more! Each programme is developed with the seasons, and special holidays in mind and no two are completely alike – so every holiday is unique and filled with outdoor fun with friends!

GAME DRIVES AND EXCURSIONS

The Mabalingwe biome, made up of 8 500 hectares of bushveld, provides wonderful game-viewing opportunities year-round.

Experience a calm herd of elephants making their way through the thicket, snapping twigs and rumbling the earth below their heavy soles. Spot the wildebeest and plains zebra huddled together, grazing peacefully, on the open savannah and finish the day watching the sunset on the horizon, as the air cools and nocturnal creatures creep out from hiding.

Private guided game drives are the only activity or facility available to non-resident guests.

All other reserve amenities and facilities are only accessible to resident guests and or permanent residents.

DAY

You can’t get much closer to unspoilt nature and wildlife than an open game drive vehicle.
Day Drives take guests through the Reserve’s stunning landscapes – grasslands, rocky ravines and majestic mountain tops – a truly unforgettable experience.

Day Drives depart from the boarding stairs at the Le Fera Plaaswinkel/Farmshop. Guest’s must meet at the steps 15 minutes prior to departure. Bookings are essential. Please enquire/book with our friendly Reception staff at the VRS Main Reception, or phone 014 001 7011.

Self-drive game viewing is also permitted on the Reserve; but is reserved only for guests staying at Mabalingwe Nature Reserve. Private guided game drives are the only activity or facility available to non-resident guests. All other reserve amenities and facilities are only accessible to resident guests and or permanent residents.

Enjoy a night drive with a trained and qualified field guide who will shine some light on nocturnal animals such as owls, jackal, bush babies and many other fascinating creatures of the night.

Limpopo generally provides even the most discerning birder with exceptional opportunities and over 250 bird species have been spotted at Mabalingwe alone.

VODACOM HILL DRIVE

A guided game drive on the Vodacom Hill 4X4 route in a game-viewing vehicle.
10:00 – 12:00 (Thurs & Sat)

PRIVATE PICNIC DRIVE

Enjoy a guided game drive en-route to your allocated private bush picnic spot. On arrival you will be offloaded, together with your picnic blanket and goodies, and left to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the bush and your picnic meal. You will be collected again at the allotted time. Picnic food and drink options will be advised when booking.

MOUNTAIN HIKE

A 2-hour guided hike on the Vodacom Hill 4X4 route with a focus on the scenery and flora. (Very safe, no encounters with Big 5 animals.)

ARCHERY

Join our Guides at the shooting range and enjoy archery, slingshot (kettie) shooting and BB guns. A fun activity the whole family can enjoy, or a really great dad-and-son experience!

ECO-TAINMENT

Learning all about the Mabalingwe Nature Reserve ecosystem is great fun for the whole family to enjoy.

Led by our team of Rangers, the Eco-Tainment programme and activities are sure to keep the kids excited and interested in the great outdoors. Children are divided into age-groups and enjoy age-appropriate teachings through fun activities such as: tree identification, spoor identification, water purification and so much more!

Please take note that all Clubs and activities are subject to availability and occupancy.

Live-Long Trail

A one hour guided trail walk where the guides focus on the medicinal and cultural uses of the tree species in the Waterberg Region. A truly awe-inspiring trail! Guests will depart from Reception and need to be at Reception 15 minutes prior to departure. Guided trail walks only available on Thursdays at 08:00.

Eco Club logo - final

ECO CLUB

Catering for the young ones, the little guests will be delighted with fun activities like: learning to make their own “stokbrood” (seriously yum), purifying water, spoor identification and many more. This activity takes place on a Sunday from 10:00 – 12:00 for children aged 6 – 12 years.

Teens get out of the tech-zone and into the great outdoors by learning all about the various trees in the area, tracking animal spoor and many more engaging activities. This activity takes place on a Saturday afternoon from 14:00 – 16:00 for teenagers aged 13 – 16 years.

Bookings are essential for all of the Eco-Tainment activities. Please enquire at Reception.

4×4 TRAIL

Challenge yourself and your vehicle to an off-road experience that sparks adrenaline, a large dose of fun and spectacular views. This activity is free of charge and you can drive at any time throughout the course of the day.
