Mabalingwe is elated to have received the news with regards to the easing of restrictions in place for international travel. While South Africa has moved to level 1 of the 5-level, risk-adjusted strategy, certain regulations will remain in force, as per the government-issued regulations. A selection of countries have been evaluated and are deemed low risk with regards to traveling to South Africa; please visit the latest Government Gazette for further information.

Social-Distancing-Friendly Holidays

The light of dawn has arrived, and with it, a brand new day. A day to cherish and be thankful for; while COVID-19 has impacted our lives and how we experience life on a daily basis, it is no longer infringing on our favourite pastime of travelling. Escaping to wide open spaces in the heart of nature, to a favourite self-catering chalet makes for the perfect social-distancing-friendly holiday.

As such, VRS has launched HygienicHospitality, a division of Vacation Recreational Services, dedicated towards implementing and maintaining additional health and safety protocols, as they relate to flattening the curve of COVID-19. From Housekeeping to Maintenance and even Reception, every person on the Mabalingwe Team has gone through all of the necessary training to ensure a safe holiday environment for all.

Below are a few measures you may notice when next visiting Mabalingwe Nature Reserve:

HygienicHospitality

Protective screens have been installed

Guests to complete a medical register on arrival and record temperatures

Hand sanitiser and disinfectant wipes are available for guests and Reception staff

The reception office is sanitised three times a week and record is kept of this task and signed off

Guests are required to wear masks when using public spaces

Social distancing markings have been laid out in Reception to maintain a 1.5m distance

Pens and keys are all sanitised before given to guests

Housekeepers service units in full PPE

Hand sanitiser available per room

Chalets allocated to provide time for the Housekeeping and Maintenance Teams

All chalets are sanitised after departure and prior to arrival

Housekeeping will be kept to a minimum throughout your stay to ensure social-distancing is upheld

Where additional housekeeping is required, guests are requested to vacate the unit while cleaning is being conducted

Restaurants:

Open for take away and sit down
No buffet is available
An attendance register is kept of all guests
Hand sanitiser is available at all entrances
Guests not wearing face masks will not be permitted to enter the Restaurant

Farm Shop:

Hand sanitiser is available at entrance
No entry will be granted without a face mask on
Number of people allowed in the Shop will be limited

Game Drives:

Limited seating available on game drives
All guests must wear masks during game drives
